Microsoft PowerPoint Advanced Descriptions


To insert a  Slide from Outline:
Place the insertion point where the new slide is to be imported.
Open the Insert menu and select Slides from Outline.
Select the desired outline file and click on Insert.

To choose a new color scheme:
Open the Format menu and select Slide Color Scheme.
Select the Standard tab.
Choose the desired color scheme.
Click on Apply or Apply to All.
To change one color in a color scheme:
Open the Format menu and select Slide Color Scheme.
Click on the Custom tab.
Select which color in the scheme to change; then click on Change Color.
Select the desired color and confirm.
Click on Apply or Apply to All.
To change the effects of the slide background:
Open the Format menu and select Background.
In the Background fill area, select Fill Effects from the drop-down list.
Select the tab for the type of effect desired.
Select the options desired for the effect.
Confirm the dialog box and apply the changes.
To ad placeholders to an existing presentation or template file:
Change to Slide Master or Title Master View.
Use the shortcut menu to open the Master Layout dialog box.
Select the desired placeholder and confirm.
To change the Master style in a presentation:
Switch to Slide Master view.
Click in the line of the style to be changed.
Make the appropriate changes.
To add an object to the Slide Master:
Switch to Slide Master View.
Add the desired objects.
To insert a picture:
From the Insert menu, select Picture.
Choose the file location to insert the picture.
Select the picture and click on Insert.
To insert an object from a file:
From the Insert menu, select Object.
Choose Create from File.
Click on the Browse button, select the desired file and confirm.
Adjust the size of the inserted object as needed.
To draw WordArt on a slide:
Display the Drawing Toolbar.
Click on the Insert WordArt button.
Select a WordArt style.
Type in the text.
Resize and position the text object on the slide.
To format an AutoShape:
Double-click on the object.
From the Format AutoShape dialog box, select the Colors and Lines tab.
Change the desired settings and confirm.
To align or distribute objects:
Display the Drawing Toolbar.
Select two or more objects.
From the Drawing Toolbar, select Draw and choose Align or Distribute.
Select the alignment option desired.
To enter text inside a shape:
Select the shape.
Type in the desired text.
Click on a blank area of the slide to deselect the shape.
To word-wrap text inside an AutoShape:
Select the shape with the text that needs to be wrapped.
Use the shortcut menu and select Format AutoShape.
Select the Text Box tab.
Click in the Word wrap text in autoshape box and confirm.
To group objects:
Display the Drawing Toolbar.
Select more than one object.
From the Drawing Toolbar, select Draw and choose Group.
To enhance an object with 3-D:
Display the Drawing Toolbar.
Select the object.
Click on the 3-D button and select 3-D Settings.
Change the effects as desired.
To create an organization chart:
Insert a slide that includes a placeholder for an organization chart.
Double-click to add org chart.
Enter the desired names and information.
Update the organization chart.
Exit and Return to the slide.
To make additions to an organization chart:
Double-Click on the organization chart object.
Select the desired box type from the toolbar.
Click in the box to be added to.
Add the new box and enter the desired information.
Update the organization chart.
Exit and Return to the slide.
To create a flowchart:
Display the Drawing Toolbar.
From the AutoShapes menu, select Flowchart then click on the shape desired.
Click on the flowchart object and type in the text.
From the AutoShapes menu, select Connectors, then click on the connector desired.
Draw the connector from one flowchart object to another.
To edit a chart's format:
Double-click on the chart object to open the chart editor.
Open the shortcut menu and click on the chart object.
Make the desired changes.
To edit a chart's data:
Double-click on the chart object and display the Datasheet.
Import new data or change the existing data.
Close the Datasheet window and deselect the chart.
To customize the animation for a slide:
Open the Slide Show menu and select Custom Animation.
Select the slide object to be animated.
Change the effects as desired.
Change the animation order as desired.
Confirm the dialog box.
To create an action button:
Open the Slide Show menu and select Action Buttons.
Choose the Action Settings.
To insert  comments in a presentation:
In Slide View, display the slide in which to add comments.
Open the Insert menu and select Comment.
Type the comments and then click outside the yellow comments box.
Move the comment box as desired.
To insert a slide from another presentation:
In Slide Sorter View, place the insertion point where the slide should go.
From the Insert menu select Slides from Files.
Select the presentation file.
Display the slides then select the one to insert and confirm.
